Hydrogel is a thin (4-5 mm thickness) transparent patch, which gently adheres to the healthy skin around the wound. When wetted, it automatically peels off. So the dressing is totally painless and quick. Being transparent, it is possible to observe the wound healing process without removing the dressing. Necrotic tissues of wound adhere to the inside of gel and come out when the dressing is finally removed. It absorbs moderate amounts of wound exudates and keeps the wound clean. The burns and wounds treated with Hydrogel do not allow scar formation and in many cases even old scars have been found to reverse. Normal dressing method is to first apply Hydrogel on the wound and then bandage entire area. This way it is necessary to change the dressing only once in three days as against almost daily dressing requirements for normal cotton gauze. It acts by reducing burn depth by providing instant cooling. It is observed that contact point temperature is reduced by 100 C and this temperature gradient is retained for that way for up to 12 hours. This product is very effective not only on burn and wounds as well as on donor areas in plastic surgery, on different kinds of ulcers. |
