About us | Line of business: the company produces, packages and markets organic extra virgin olive oil. Historical background: The company was founded in 1978 and promptly started up production of grapes, citrus fruits and kiwis. In 1997, it branched out into organic extra virgin olive oil, importing the basic genetic material from italy, spain and greece. In building an olive oil business, agricola valle grande has incorporated the latest expertise and technology. Five years of research were spent on the best growing and production methods. Consulting performed by dr. Fontanassa(italy). The owner, elvio olave, is a successful entrepreneur in wine. He is an innovator and entrepreneur in the chilean agribusiness sector who has financed this new venture from his own funds. The first harvest was may 2002. The may 2003 harvest produced 100,000 liters Region of operation: The company estate, fundo EL oliveto, is found 70 km west of the capital of santiago in the cholqui-pallocabe valley, a part of the melipilla district. A peculiarity of the fruit grown there is its enhanced aroma and flavor, fostered by hot, dry summers. Meanwhile, the yawning difference between day and nighttime temperatures leads to slow growth. Olave is 100% organic and certified by imo(institute for marketecology) in switzerland. The latest technology in natural predators is used to control pests and expensive husbandry methods are used to produce a pure organic product. All processes are haccp certified. Other advancements include: Italian continuous centrifuge extraction system of oil, manufactured with stainless steel(alfa laval). A controlled atmosphere in stainless steel tanks, guaranteeing the preservation of the oil. A mechanical harvest. The estates are irrigated with continuous micro drop system. Bottling on the premises of the estate. 6. - products: Organic extra virgin olive oil of the following varieties: Frantoio, leccino, coratina and arbequina. The acidity level is 0.15% actual(0.20% on the label). This is the lowest available anywhere due to the excellence of the production process.
