porcelain vase mainstream sculpture

The Mainstream Sculpture is one of the treasures of Chinese folk arts and crafts with a long and prestigious renown. As early as in the last quarter of Ming dynasty, the Mainstream Sculpture came into being in Minna. By the times of Emperor Kangxi in Qing dynasty, the art became well advanced.

Furthermore, because of the rarity and prestige, the Mainstream Sculpture works came to be collected by high-ranking officials, wealthy merchants, large temples and big monasteries as the symbol of wealth and status.

However, because of the originality of technique, the complexity of production process and the closed-door impartation of craft ,the art was almost lost to the world by the end of the twentieth century. In recent years, after the hard work of all circles, the art has been carried foward.

Flying its own colors, the artistic style of the Mainstream Sculpture appeals to refined taste and the works have been chosen as gifts to state guests, winning honor and good reputation for our country. The Mainstream Sculpture craft is made from plants ,among many other things .It is handmade under the special weather conditions of Minnan.

The skills are all secretly handed down from generation to generation .Dozens of working procedures are involved in the process: stripping ,coiling ,entangling, piling, sculpture, engraving and carving, etc. so as to form the workmanlike and embossed striae.

The surface is then foiled with gold leaves of 99% gold in order to protect its luster against depigmentation.

The Mainstream Sculpture draws upon the essence of three great Chinese famous works of art: the antuqueness and gracefulness of Jingdezhen ceramic, the romantic charm of Fuzhou bodiless lacquerware and the splendor of Beijing cloisonné and is good enough to be regarded as an unique ,exquisite work of art in our county.

The color and luster of works are bright, the shape is elegant and the style is solemn .Every piece is almost specially made and unique. Today, as the representation of Xiamen specialty art, the Mainstream Sculpture wins people’s favor because of its noblest and elegant cultural lasting appeal and strong regional characteristic.

It becomes the uncommon choice in the area of keepsake ,gift, souvenir and collection. And it widely applies to commercial communion, interpersonal contact, decoration, traveling commemoration, collection and so on.
