Reasonable price, good size for the home cook. The pestle has a substantial handle that, with some modification, makes it easy to use without tiring the hand too much. As delivered, the wooden portion had a sharp point on it from the lathe.
After some judicious carving and sanding though, it's comfortable to use. mortar and pestle set for just over a month, and I've used it a couple of times a week to grind spices. So far, it's holding up well.
I wash it by hand, and my only concern would be the place where the wooden handle attaches to the ceramic end of the pestle -- I'm not sure how that would hold up in the dishwasher, so I'm giving this item only 4 stars.
