Besides the inability to detect motion through obstructions, most detection systems, such as video are very short range and only alert when motion enters into the field of view of the camera lens or detection sensor. Audio- by distance, obstructions, debris settlement and the ability of a victim to make any sound at all.

LifeLocator system detects and locates motion and breathing in a defined volume within thirty seconds, even through obstructions (such as steel reinforced concrete or brick walls, pavement, mudslide or avalanche). It is not affected by sound or background acoustic noises.

The sensor emits signals that provide defining information about the target making victim location speedy, accurate and safer for first responders, security professionals and military personnel.

LifeLocator System The principal components of LifeLocator motion detection system are a sensor which is made up of: A transmitter which sends the UWB signal; A receiver which detects the returning signal; and A computer which reads the signal detected by the receiver and processes the detection algorithms. The sensor contains programmable firmware.

The data produced by the sensor is sent wirelessly to a rugged PDA (controller) display. The sensor and controller have separate power supplies.
