Usage: Progesteron. Norethindrone and acetate in combination with estrogen as contraceptive (oral).

Norethisterone contains a hormone which is similar to the hormoneprogestogen that is naturallyproduced by the body. It is used to treat a number of menstrual cycle disorders. Norethisterone isalso used to help treat breast cancer.This leaflet discusses norethisterone when it is used to treat heavy periods.

Although othertreatment options for heavy periods are more common, norethisterone is sometimes considered if othertreatments have not worked or are unsuitable. Norethisterone treatment aims to reduce the amount of blood loss. When taking norethisterone in this way, it does not act as a contraceptive.
