The peltier cooling system reduce the noise of cmos, which make cmos a much better perforance at dark field. The mt9m001is a 1.3-megapixel,1/2 color/monochrome cmos active-pixel digital image sensor.

It blends the superior image-capture of 1.3 megapixels with advanced noise-reduction technology to achieve sharp, ccd-level image quality while retaining the cmos technological advantages of a smaller form factor, lower power consumption and higher performance.
