Certification Description:A digital video recorder (DVR) is a device with built-in computer system that carries out the task of monitoring and records video captured by cameras connected without videotape; instead, it is recorded to a computer hard-disk in digital format. Video is saved in a compressed format; therefore, the cost of storage is minimal and the hour of recording actually is unlimited. When hard-disk is full, oldest records will be eliminated first. The solution generally includes a stand-alone set-top box and software system that enables video capture and playback round the clock. Depends on model, but simultaneous recording, playing back and live monitoring are basically offered. Some high-end model provides upgrade to monitoring via Internet.
