Canola Oil

The name Canola had its origin from Canada where rapeseed was naturally bred to Canola in the early 1970's. Canola, however, is NOT rapeseed their nutritional profiles are very different. Traditional plant breeding methods was used in the 1960's to get rid of rapeseed's undesirable qualities – erucic acid and glucosinolates. Canola Oil has less than 2% euric acid in its oil and less than 30 mol/g glucosinolate in the oilcake. Compared to rapeseed, canola seed contains a reduced content of erucic acid and glucosinolates. 

Canola oil is:

• Low in saturated fat: Saturated fat raises the bad LDL cholesterol in your blood and has been linked to increased risk of coronary heart disease.
  
• High in monounsaturated fat: Monounsaturated fat may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease by lowering bad LDL cholesterol in the blood and helping control blood glucose.
  
• A source of omega-6 fat: Omega-g fat must be consumed in your diet and is important for the brain and essential for the growth and development of infants.
  
• High in omega-3 fat: Omega-3 fat must also be consumed in your diet and helps protect against heart attacks and strokes.
  
• Cholesterol and trans fat free: Trans fat raises bad LDL cholesterol and lowers good HDL cholesterol.
  
• Rich in anti-oxidants.
  
• A source of vitamin E.
