About us
General Purpose
We are currently looking for buyers, partners and/or strategic alliances to exploit, sell and/or distribute restore black peat.
We are hoping to receive and analyze proposals from any potential purchaser or partner for the sale or total or partial exploitation of our deposit. In the later case, our intention is to make our product known and develop it according to market requirements.
The Deposit
Our Peat
General Geological Characteristics.
A vertical cut of the deposit reveals the existence of three layers sitting over river bed gravel.
The superior layer is, in average,30 centimeters deep, although it can reach almost one meter in certain areas. It has a dark brown to black color.
Underneath the top layer, there is a black peat layer almost 60 centimeters deep. Occasionally, in certain areas, the peat layers surface.
Finally, on top of the bottom gravel layer, there is a clay layer with a maximum depth of 1.5 meters in certain areas. It has a dark yellow to black color.
The material
The deposit consists of highly decomposed organic matter, probably 10,000 years old, with an occasional visible portion of vegetal matter, probably rushes. The peat has a high absorption capacity, high porosity and elasticity.
Geological studies suggest the existence of a black peat deposit with a percentage of raw organic matter between 70.7 and 71.8%.
According to the decomposition classification of Von Post the material ranges between H7 and H9.
Origin of the Deposit.
Given the location and geomorphologic and geological characteristics of the deposit, it corresponds to a peat deposit which, at some point in time, was covered by the principal flow of a river. The presence of well-rounded gravel at the bottom of the deposit reveals the existence in the past of a high-energy aquatic environment, such as plentiful river. The relative proximity of the deposit to the River reaffirms this hypothesis. The clay level in the deposit is indication of a sudden change in the sedimentation conditions, probably due to a change from a high-energy river system to a very low-energy one. Peat accumulated in the area as the result of vegetation growth, such as rushes, which, due to the water saturation, decomposed into organic matter.
