At the room temperature, resistance is almost as low as zero and current flows as if no resistance exists.

In the case that overcurrent is happened, resistance will arise such that excessive current is not allowed to flow. Pptc element is able to sense reaction and become the state of current break, depending on the ambient temperature and use condition.

If short break is relieved or ambient temperature decreases, resistance of the element will be soon restored in order to be usable as normal condition.
