The company was originally established under the name hanami co. Ltd. In 1985, as an affiliate of friendship co. Ltd. Which manufactures savory snacks under the hanami brand, prawn crackers and cookies and biscuits under arsenal brand.

In 1990, it joined forces with tohato INC. A leading japanese snack manufacturer, and was renamed hanami - tohato co. Ltd. The company gained benefit from the japanese partner through research and development and technical expertise.
