CUCU Design is a New York based family owned design house which is managed by three people: Cucu Godhwani the Leather Innovator and manufacturer; his daughter Galina Godhwani the Fashion Designer; and his son Mekaal Godhwani who is in charge of sales, marketing and finance.

Mr. Cucu Godhwani is a Spanish-born Indian citizen whose mother is a Swedish-Finn and father an Indian. His paternal family is firmly entrenched in the leather trade since 1949 in India, thus making him the second generation in the same line of business. He is also the director and the main promoter of Sovereign Leather Innovator Private Limited. Manufacturing for various American and European based designers has been the primary focus for Sovereign Leather Innovators Private Limited.

Mr. Cucu Godhwani possesses state-of-the-art knowledge from formulation of innovative artistic leather skins to manufacturing finished goods for high volume production. Mr. Cucu Godhwani, the leather innovator and technologist with over 30 years of experience, is the proud award recipient of the prestigious, INTERNATIONAL ASIA AWARD. This award is granted to those who most distinguish themselves in trading within Asia. It was granted by the paper, THE EAST TRADE which belongs to the Editorial Office Publishing Network in Spain.

Cucus son Mekaal Godhwani graduated from the City University of New York with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Finance in September 2003. After graduating, Mekaal came up with an entrepreneurial idea to capitalize on his aspiring and upcoming sisters designs, and his fathers proven artistic leather innovation, under the label CUCU.

Galina Godhwani, the fashion designer, acquired her fashion designing diploma from JD Institute of Fashion Design and has a Bachelor degree in Economics and Art from Sophia College. Galina Godhwani has been working under her fathers artistic influence in the leather trade business. She then started applying her design skills by freelancing for various design houses in Mumbai, Paris, Dubai and even New York. To mention a few of her successes, her distressed denim bag design was bought by the design house Morgan in New York. More recently one of her other bag designs were featured in the ELLE magazine in Mumbai under the label Vikram Phadnis often referred by the local press as Bollywoods ace designer.

The majority of Galinas designs are handmade and handcrafted like a unique piece of art. The techniques integrate age old crafts with modern technologies giving it a transition look between the old and the new. More importantly is the integration of innovative artistic fabric into her new creations. Galina bases her fashion taste on UNIQUENESS, each design being different and an artwork to be appreciated. Galinas taste changes ever so often that she is constantly designing new artwork every week.
