Expansion plans.
Given the conditions of servicing a petroleum license in kenya, it is imperative that the company expands and converts cross borders limited into a holding company with two subsidiary companies.
One of the subsidiary companies will be focused on marketing and distribution on a large scale. This is necessary in order to achieve sustainable profitability given that current government policy is highly in favour of the big multinationals. Under such circumstances venturing into the upcountry market is the most opportune way to break even and recoup losses incurred due to processing 25% of our market share at kenya petroleum refineries ltd.
The second subsidiary shall be focused mainly in procurement of crude and other refined products from the international market.
Given the stiff competition offered by multinationals it is imperative to have a company focused at the international market seeking products at competitive prices and acceptable quality. This company shall be an active participant in the open tender system for both crude and refined products.
A foreign-based partner and or investor may have to be incorporated into this subsidiary company with a view of mobilizing finances required to undertake such a venture.
Company is also looking at possibilities of widening the bulk commodities sector and has an independent division solely working on the project.
Great focus is being maintained at domestic level in terms of marketing and a breakthrough is expected in this regard before end of the year.
