| About us | Name of company: URVI Country: India Number of employees:7 direct and over 90 through associates (garment manufacturers) Year of foundation: 2001 Company overview: URVI was started with the dual purpose of, on the one-side, to give impetus to the existing forms of weaving and on the other to revive dying forms of weaving. We have also been putting in efforts in creating our own materials using the traditional weaving of a particular place with printing/art forms of another place and with our own designs. The outcome is unique and breathtakingly beautiful. Our effort to market these products to the younger generations have yielded good results, thereby creating new demands for some of the dying forms of art. Urvi hopes to give something back to the people who have been instrumental in its growth, therefore an URVI-ENVIRONMENTAL TRUST is in the process of being created where a part of its funds would be used for saving the environment and for other community development projects at the village level. Main activities: URVI sources khadi (hand-woven) from its own empanelled weavers from across the Country and especially from its home state of Andhra Pradesh. Block printing of Kalamkari using 100% eco-friendly vegetable dyes. It also designs and develops various kinds of hand-woven material in close co-ordination with the weavers across the state. Company activities: Retailing, Wholesaling and Export of eco-friendly hand-woven materials.
