Thurman Farm Quilts
About us | I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration but I also have a love for creating an item that speaks to me. My electives for my degree consisted of oil painting, sculpturing, and screen printing. I learned to evaluate art using a perspective eye as to the meaning that the artist is trying to convey. When I started quilting, I applied this same basic concept to my quilts. I take a pattern and combine material that will express a message. I title my quilts according to the message that I am trying to convey. I use a mixture of materials in my quilts such as cotton, a cotton/polyester blend, muslin, and silk, just to name a few. I enjoy using vintage material whenever I can find some available that would be interesting in a quilt. I have used African material that was manufactured in Dakar and have wonder results with it. I use a polyester blend batting for my quilts but would use whatever my buyer wishes if they had some specific type in mind such as wool or cotton. |
