About us
Optical Shop of Aspen(OSA) began as a single optical shop in the '70s and is now a world leading high-end optical retail and wholesale operation. The company, which operates 15 retail stores under the Optical Shop of Aspen and Emporio Optic names, also designs and distributes the unique luxury eyewear brands of Matsuda, Hiero, Kieselstein-Cord, Clayton Franklin Spectacles, Swiss Horn and Chrome Hearts. Optical Shop of Aspen has elevated eyewear from simply functional to a 'fashion statement'.

In a revolutionary turn for the eyewear market, Optical Shop of Aspen made its mark in 1970 by approaching eyewear as a high-end, fashion accessory. Optical Shop of Aspen's approach is evident in its stores that present original, artistic eyewear in a creative environment. Store layouts are intimate, yet ensure that the arrays of beautifully designed frames are easily accessible.

We look at our stores as a brand, explains Larry Sands, president and founder. Good retailers become brands - they develop a reputation for quality merchandise and service. Our customers know that Optical Shop of Aspen is a great optical store.

Expanding into some of the most upscale, exclusive markets in the country, Optical Shop of Aspen, began a major corporate retail expansion with the launch of its store in the Borgata shopping center in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1982. Since then, the company has opened shops in Newport Beach, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Overland Park, KS; Kansas City, MO; Santa Fe, NM; Santa Monica, CA; Laguna Beach, CA; Phoenix, AZ and its second location in Scottsdale, AZ.

In 1988, the company opened a wholesale division named Optical Shop of Aspen International, which sought out exclusive, high-end fashion names to license for eyewear. Their first agreement was for the North American distribution rights to the Matsuda Collection. Always on the lookout for innovative, unique designs, Optical Shop of Aspen International then signed an exclusive distributorship agreement with Hiero House in 1993. In 1998, Barry Kieselstein-Cord signed a licensing agreement with Optical Shop of Aspen International to design and distribute his eyewear collection worldwide. At the same time, Optical Shop of Aspen launched their unique collection, Clayton Franklin for both U. S. And European distribution. In 2002, a license agreement established with Chrome Hearts allowed Optical Shop of Aspen to design and distribute Chrome Hearts eyewear worldwide. During the same year, Swiss Horn selected Optical Shop of Aspen as its North American distributor. Today OSA international designs and distributes Matsuda, Matsuda 101, Kieselstein-Cord, Hiero, Clayton-Franklin, Chrome Hearts and Swiss Horn.

Under the direction of Optical Shop of Aspen International's in-house design team, each collection pushes the boundaries of technology and style, further bringing the concept of 'luxury' to eyewear. What the market needs is not always in front of you, says Larry Sands of the company's move into the wholesale end of the business. Our ability to forecast and create new, innovative product helps keep our stores unique.

For high profile celebrities and style setters to the simply fashionable, Optical Shop of Aspen caters to the customer who wants the very best. With product that combines singular design with unparalleled artisanship and stores that make shopping a sensuous and intimate affair, Optical Shop of Aspen continues to be the driving force in the luxury eyewear market.
