Northwest Law Enforcement Academy
About us | Applicants will be thoroughly screened and must meet rigid standards. Acceptance to the program will be based on the recommendation of the Selection Review Committee. Each applicant will be required to write an Entrance Exam which in order to pass they must score a 60% final grade. The Entrance Exam is General Knowledge, with both multiple choice and short essay style answers. The areas covered are Current Events, Basic Geography and Math, with questions in both Powers of Observation and Police Judgment calls. Each applicant will have an Initial Interview with the Registrar. Assuming they pass both the Initial Interview and their Entrance Exam, they will then proceed to their Second Interview with a Senior Staff Member. After this second interview, the Selection Review Committee will advise the applicant as to their acceptance to Northwest Law Enforcement Academy. Courses taken will include: Criminal Law Police Procedures & Enforcement Tactics Arrest & Custody Techniques Officer Safety & High Risk Situations Criminal Investigations Major Crime Investigation Communications & Law Enforcement Report Writing Public Speaking Crime Prevention Criminology Situational Analysis Ethics & Accountability in Law Enforcement Non-Violent Crisis Management Employment Preparation & Job Search Human Relations/Police Community Relations Standard First Aid & CPR Level'C' Police Defensive Tactics Firearms Training Crime Scene Management & Intro to Forensic Identification Traffic Control & Traffic Accident Investigation Cultural Diversity in Law Enforcement |
