Moto Trader Company
About us | There followed a discussion that, whilst his immediate interest was to ride a Ural outfit back to England together with 72 year old father and 8 year old son, he should also consider becoming the UK concessionaire for the factory. One month later, after passing through eight countries and traveling approximately 7,000 km's(some of it over rough ground) Burgess arrived together with his son Timothy at the port of Dover, England. The Ural outfit had proved it's ruggedness. Burgess considered the UK opportunity carefully and, taking into account his resources in Moscow, biking knowledge and interest decided to proceed. The International market Moto Trader Company motorcycles have been sold successfully for a number of years throughout the world where demand for the hard working sidecar outfits remains strong. The Dnepr factory located in the Ukraine also has a long history of producing heavy motorcycles and sidecar outfits, however, we are advised that the Dnepr factory is now only producing on a sporadic basis. The Dnepr factory lack the capital investment and technical support that has recently been injected into Russian factory and consequently are unlikely to compete long term with the Ural. The UK motorcycle market Unlike Russia, America, Europe and many countries in the world, the UK drives on the left side of the road. Because the factory produced sidecar units with the chair fitted to the right-hand side of the vehicle Moto Trader Ltd were initially restricted to selling solo motorcycles. Recognizing the potential market for sidecars in the UK the factory established production of left-hand side car outfits. The first left-hand sidecar unit arrived in England in May 1999 and future production is now assured. The UK prohibition of right-hand sidecars since 1981 leaves doubts as to the legality of the powered sidecar(2-wheel drive) on UK roads. Some dealers and interested parties are working to clarify this matter at this time Moto Trader Ltd. Do not believe it appropriate to register driven sidecars for road use but acknowledge that certain respected parties feel differently. For Moto Trader themselves, their Russian domestic quality Bikes had been leaked into UK market for some time, fuelling a bad reputation amongst certain quarters as a result of poor build quality and poor support. Domestic quality sales have recently been restricted so that only export quality machines are available for export markets. At a time of increasing control over speeding traffic in the UK, many more mature riders see the excessive power available from other manufacturers as being irrelevant to today's road conditions. The Ural offers an enjoyable, reliable and stylish form of transport. |
