Maplin has its future all electronically mapped out. Maplin Electronics operates 100 electronics stores in Ireland and the UK and plans to expand this number to upwards of 300 stores by 2009. It sells more than 12,000 items, including computer parts and hardware and software, cameras, telephones, and audio and video equipment. Goods are sold 80% through outlets, the remainder equally split between via mail order and the Internet. Maplin, previously owned by private equity firm, Graphite Capital, was sold to Montagu Private Equity in September 2004 |
