About us | Exposure to UV light that is found in varying degrees of intensity in most light sources, such as Sunlight, Incandescent and fluorescent lighting. The Photoluminescent effect is often mistakenly confused with simular light emitting effects Such as: Chemical-Luminescence(light emitted by particular chemical reactions), Bio-luminescence(light emitted by biological processes), Electro-luminescence(light emitted by electrical stimulation of certain molecular structures) and Sonicluminescence(light emitted by sound wave stimulation of certain molecular structures) all of which during activation will emit light in the same frequency range but achieve there activation via different stimulation processes. The main difference between photo-luminescence and other forms of luminescence is that photoluminescence is capable of producing what is termed a long after-glow effect, in other words the material will continue to emit light long after the stimulation is removed. |
