About us | Spring lambskin production commences about July to reach a peak December. The early skins are of wool length 1.5-2.0 inches, the 2.0-3.0 inch length is produced September through November. Shorn lambskins come into production about January and continue thereafter in wool lengths starting at 0.5-1.0 inches and developing, as the season progresses to 1.5-2.5 inches. Productin of mature sheepskins continues all year round but is most prolific in the period November to February when the short wool sheep are slaughtered. Wool lenghths from mature sheep vary from under 0.5 inches to 2.0-2.5 inches and longer depending upon the time of the season. Air dried skins are sold per kilo or per piece with average weights stated. Salted types are sold per piece without weights stated. The specifications will include size, wool style and pelt quality. Air dried products in pressed bales of average weight approximately 300 kilos measuring about 1.5x0.65 metres.32 bales per 20 foot sea freight container for a total net weight of approximately 9,000 kilos. Salted products packed on pallets of about 900 to 1,000 kilos gross weight,20 pallets per 20 foot sea freight container. Pallet quantities vary according to wool lengths and skins types. |
