| About us | Ilum-a-Lite has designed and manufactured the Light Eco range of products. These consist of a family of products all that share the common feature of reducing the cost of fluorescent lighting by about 30%. The product range caters for 10 amp, 16amp and 20 amp lighting circuits and a range of voltages from 200 volts to 260 volts. A 277-volt unit has been developed for the North American market. The product is unique with some significant competitive advantages over similar products. These include current and voltage sensing to eliminate “brownouts” or damage from surges, a low manufacturing cost making the product price competitive and profitable at all levels of the marketing chain and a state of the art Hybrid design processor. The unique soft switching function has been patented. The company is based in Sydney – its Global Headquarters – and its three founders still own and operate the business. Early years were spent on developing the product and copyrighting the technology, leading to patents. Some sales were made of early versions of the product, proving the concept and the energy savings in a real life environment, which led to product refinement utilising hybrid technology. The current product has been marketed since 1999 and is the most technologically advanced, lowest cost product of its type in the world. Since 1999 a distributor network was established in Australia for the product. Business has grown steadily with the expected few challenges on the way until today, when Light Eco products are widely installed in Australia and specified by many energy management companies, agencies and government departments. Export activity has been a constant focus of the company and is recognised as the growth opportunity for the product. Distribution agreements are in place in Hong Kong, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Greece, Slovakia, Holland and Scandinavia. 10,000 units were produced in the first year for South Asia alone. By July 2003 export sales had topped $3million representing more than 50% of sales. |
