Boca comm is a professional services firm, founded nearly 20 years ago by the merger of two consulting firms(avenir, paris and surcan, boston). Within boca comm there are 'practice groups', or areas of specialty. For example, the finaro division works in corporate finance and financial analysis, the vendis division operates in the it arena, and so on.

The representation practice group(boca comm rpg) works with companies - designers, for instance - as commissioned sales representatives. With over 600 consultants and agents worldwide, the firm operates in most sectors.

The smaller companies we represent often do not have the resources, or the contacts, to market their products worldwide. Contracts and sales agreements often must be presented in several languages, sales negotiations conducted in the local language, and even sales& marketing processes are often completely different in each country.

As the core business of boca comm rpg is commissioned sales agents, the overriding objective is sales volume. This is of course tempered with correct business practices on behalf of our client.

A major differentiating factor for our agents is the access to the other resources of the firm. For example, our equity raising group is available should(we hope) sales rise to the extent that our client is not able to fund capacity expansion.

This group also works with regional and governmental entities(brussels, for instance) to obtain funding which is often available to pay costs associated with foreign trade shows and drive export.

Another example - our agents can call on the resources of the vendis division to get a web site 'up' for our clients in multiple languages, very quickly, and for costs far, far below what the company could find on their own.

Normally, clients we work with have some small problems with pricing/manufacturing because they are used to working in their local market and are not prepared for internationalization. These problems normally relate to the client having prices which reflect margin for themselves and the target shopkeeper - and not for the entire supply chain(shippers, importers, exporters, agents, brokers, warehouse, etc. ).

In keeping with our international practice, our clients are also global.

In this sector(apparel) we have clients across europe - though concentrated from italy at the moment. We also have clients from asia - as much of the worldwide production is performed there. Although we continually evaluate new clients, we are presently making a major push in this sector - including uk - for new clients.

We... Work with the designer to narrow the markets to what we feel are the correct choices, and then sell into that market. If necessary or desired, we also organize shows or locate and open showrooms.

The type of customer and type of source are normally segregated, however. The customers of our agents - which are also the customers of our clients - have different needs. A large off-price retailer is normally going to be dealing through our agents in asia or the sub-continent, while a boutique or high-end chain is normally going to be dealing with our agents in europe for the high-end products.
