| About us | Askam kamyon imalat ve tic. A. S. Was established originally in 1962 as a joint venture with 60% chrysler international S. A. Share and started production in 1964. In 1978, chrysler international S. A. Sold its share to the local partners - tatko, ciftciler, rusensad -. In 1991 askam has started production of light trucks under licence of hino motors, ltd. Askam kamyon developed its own product and manufacturing engineering capabilities as an independent company maintaining ties with well-known international component manufacturers along with its relations with chrysler USA and hino motors Japan. Askam kamyon is extending technical know-how and supplying ckd parts for assembly of trucks in Egypt as a result of the licence and technical collaboration agreements signed in 1996. After the merge of daimler-benz and chrysler, having changed its name to askam kamyon imalat ve tic. A. S. At the beginning of year 2002, the company has been continuing to present its products both to local market and abroad under the brand names of fargo and desoto. Facilities located 40 km. S from Istanbul lie over 109.000 m2 of land 40.000 m2 of which is closed area. Production processes include stamping and fabrication, body welding, paintshop, engine and main assembly lines and per annum production capacity is 9000 units one shift. Product line is composed of pick-ups and trucks in 3.5 to 40 tons gvw/gcw range. Over 160.000 units of askam trucks have been serving in a wide range of applications from construction to long distance transportation. Askam kamyon has been granted ISO 9001:2000 quality assurance certificate. As a company with a forty-years-experience, askam kamyon has been contributing to turkish economy through its over fifty dealers and seventy-one services and hundreds of parts outlets.
