inquiry to Inquiry about Steem Coal

Dear Sirs, We would like to introduce as a group of companies having interests in Manufacturing, Export, Import, Sub-contracting, Consultancy and HR Business with offices in Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Daman, Indore and Delhi in India. The Export, Import and Sub-contracting business is handled by a group company - M/S. YASH VENTURES. As you are aware, Indian economy is growing at a much faster rate than expected in view of SEZ Policy introduced by the Central Government in India, which is resulting in a phenomenal growth in almost every sector of economy. There are around 500 plus Special Economic Zones (SEZs) being developed in various parts of India, out of which we are consultants to 100+ SEZs right from developing the concept, formulating the strategy, implementation of SEZ and thereafter management and operations of SEZ. This cosultancy business is handled by our Group Companies - M/s. Bizsolindia Services Pvt. Ltd. (***) and we are the only company in India, who are into Management & Operations of SEZ. In view of the above developments in India, there is a huge demand generated for power sector and many companies in India including State Governments have been investing heavily in creating power generation capacity / infrastructure and setting up various power plants in India to meet the unsatisfiable demand of power in India. We would like to apprise you of the power generation scenario in India. Coal is the dominant commercial fuel, meeting half of commercial primary energy demand and a third of total energy needs in India. The Coal Demand is projected to grow from 391 MT in 2002 to 758 MT in 2030 - only China's demand for coal is expected to outstrip India's. The power sector will be the main driver of India's coal consumption - currently around 69% of India's electricity is generated from coal, which is growing at a rapid speed creating substantial demand for imported coals. The primary energy demand in India more than doubles by 2030, growing on average by 3.6 per cent per year. Coal remains India's most important fuel, its use nearly tripling between 2005 and 2030. What is interesting to note is that India would continue to rely on imported coal for reasons of quality in the steel sector and for economic reasons at power plants located a long way from mines but close to ports. Hard coal imports are projected to rise almost seven-fold, their share of total Indian coal demand rising from 12 per cent in 2005 to 28 per cent in 2030. Besides, power generation accounts for much of the increase in primary energy demand, given surging electricity demand in industry and in residential and commercial buildings, with most new generating capacity are fueled by coal. Since we have been closely associated with many SEZs, Private Corporates and State Government Agencies, which are setting up their own power plants in India, we foresee a substantial demand for import of thermal coal and would like to establish a long term contract / business alliance with Coal Exporters from other countries for importing of various types of coals into India. The Indian coal miners would not be in a position to meet this ever-increasing demand of coal and as a result one has to look at other options of importing coals to feed the power plants continuously in sustaining economic growth. In India, many energy sources like Nuclear Power, Natural Gas Power and Oil Powers are being discussed as green and clean source of energies over the Coal Power. We can give five reasons why you / we should start taking coal exports to India seriously. 1. First, it is still the worlds cheapest and most reliable source of energy. Despite the dominance of oil and natural gas and the rush to develop clean, renewable energy sources, coal remains king and is the only fossil fuel which on current reserves estimates for oil and natural gas is likely to be available 100 years from now. Nuclear power is very expensive affair and also has many limitations including world politics. 2. Second, there are recoverable coal reserves in around 70 countries enough to last around 155 years according to most estimates. It is easy to produce, low tech, and relatively cheap to transport. The World Coal Institute says that coal provides around 25% of global primary energy needs and is used to generate 40% of the worlds electricity. Two, coal is far from being oh-so-Third World. Most big industrialized nations, including USA, South Africa and Australia, get up to 45% of their current energy from coal. Uncle Sam gets a quarter of his electricity from coal-based power plants. With so much at stake, you can be sure no one is going to slag off coal any time soon. 3. Three, demand for coal is rising fast. The larger structural shift in demand is due to the economic boom in China and India. By year 2030, the two will together generate 60% of the total global demand. China already gets three-fourths of its total energy from coal. It boasts 35% of the worlds coal reserves, and uses more coal than the US, EU and Japan combined. India gets more than half its total energy from coal. 80% of our electricity is coal-generated. In short, coal is set to become even more important for global energy security. We need to be part of this story. 4. Four, since China & India are demanding coal faster than it can be mined and shipped. No wonder then, Macquarie Group Ltd, Australias largest investment bank, raised its 2008 forecasts for coal used in power plants by 26% and that of coking coal used by steel companies by 11% which are ever-increasing day by day. The global action is catching. Power companies are desperately trying to secure long term supply. Reliance Industries is planning a $8-billion coal liquefaction project at Talcher in Orissa. Tata Power last April bought stakes in two Indonesian coal mines for $1.3 billion. Coal India Ltd. has raised its production of all grades, but still cannot satisfy the emerging thirst of the coal by the TPCs. 5. Lastly, though coal makes the Greens see red, it is unlikely to be banned anytime soon. Companies are developing technologies to clean up the mess coal makes. If they succeed, that would be another tick against coals proud name. From the way it looks, heads you win, tails they lose. IF EVER THERE IS A TIME TO BECOME BULLISH ON COAL, THAT IS IT NOW. In view of the above, this email is to invite you to be a part of this big business opportunity of supplying thermal and other grades of coals to India and to establish long term business alliance for mutual benefits of our two organizations. We are looking for the following: 1. To establish a long term business alliance with the coal miners in the world. 2. To enter into a Contract for long term supply of coals. 3. To act as importer and distribution of coals. 4. To negotiate the prices with the TPCs (Thermal Power Stations) in India. 5. To quote prices in the Indian Rupees and offer the prices upto the place of Thermal Power Station, which is the preferred practice in India. 6. To enter into the Agreement with the TPCs for long term supply. 7. To act as your agent whenever TPCs are insisting for import of coals into India. 8. To do the customs clearance of the coal consignments at various ports in India. 9. To arrange inland freights and transportations by railways / roads upto the place of TPC and loading / unloading of the consignment. 10. To collect the money from TPC for the supplies made. 11. Any other responsibility in related to this business. We solicit from you the following: 1. Your Company profile along with financial reports for the last three years. 2. To get specifications of all varieties and types of coal mined by you along with annual capacities and future capacity for the next 10 years. 3. To get FOB & CIF Any Port in India prices for all varieties and types of coal that you can supply for long term period. 4. To provide Bid-Bond / Bank Guarantee to TPCs after contract is awarded. We enclose herewith the two immediate requirements of coal with their specifications and the quantity for you to quote the FOB as well as CIF India port prices as given in the enclosed requirements. The undersigned would like to meet you either in your country or in India for detailed discussions in the matter and to conclude the long term supply agreements with your company for mutual benefits. We now look forward to hearing from you soon. With kind regards, Sincerely yours, for YASH VENTURES, Arun Sawant. Managing Director.
